Week 12: And Just Like That

Here we are, last blog post of the summer semester. The title of the blog post is a nod to the show And Just Like That, aka Sex and the City... catchy to end things with the phrase "and just like that" so thus it is here to end. 

I say end because I don't know if I will pick up blogging in another space, or if there will be a reason to engage in this way moving forward. Given my profession, I try to keep a low internet presence on information that some individuals would like to read about me but shouldn't. I can see how this is a healthy journalistic way to share thoughts, opinions, ideas, etc., so in a way I will miss the space. 

I thought the best way to recap the semester and all that took place in the Web 2.0 sphere would be to highlight all the tools I engaged with and letting you know my favorites.

Blogger and Twitter mostly because it is what I engaged in weekly, but mind meister took the cake for me. I have been using mind meister professionally and now for dissertation writing, so BIG win there. 

I would be interested to know what others engaged with this semester and potentially their favorites as well. It has been a pleasure engaging with you all this summer. BEST!

Blog 3: Week 1

 I did a family poll this week to see what was everyone's most used social media platform is. My immediate family is my partner and two dogs so the dogs didn't have an input ☺I also polled my parents and my sister. Below are the tallies of who uses what every day.  Facebook: 4 Instagram: 4 Twitter: 2 TikTok: 1 Some would argue this could be age related, however the ages ranged from 33 - 71, and the twitter users were in their 40's and 70's, Facebook was everyone, Instagram was everyone, and Tik Tok was in their 30's. Just thought it was interesting to get a perspective on what people are using. Ironically no one in my family blogs either, so that is not a common network or online community that is utilized. Something I did not think of but no one mentioned using it, was YouTube. Week 4: Your Thoughts, Internet Exhaustion

 After posting my last blog and engaging in a Flickr exercise for the class it got me thinking of posting another blog with feelings and emotions to my internet exhaustion. If for no other reason to see if you all had any reactions to the posts or information shared below.. Week 4: Online Life

While progressing through class this week and attempting to become more integrated in other Web 2.0 communities and content, I can't help but find it overwhelming. I think there is a reason I am fully a part of some online communities and just aware of others. Maybe it is the feeling of a need  to check in or just not having the capacity to engage across multiple platforms. I am sure there is a term for it these days and I should go search for it, but I feel exhaustion from the internet  right now. Don't get me wrong, it is a privilege to have everything in the palm of our hands, connectivity to loved ones, access to information, maps, locations, etc., but living in the space throughout the day is exhausting.  I sat outside last night and reflected on my usage of all things that are internet related throughout my day and it is no wonder I feel overwhelmed.
